FAQ
What should I expect when I receive my Reiki treatment?
At your first treatment we will go through a client questionnaire which informs me of your medical history and your current lifestyle, and what you are hoping to achieve from the treatment. I will explain to you how the treatment will be carried out, and what you may experience before getting you comfortable on the treatment couch.
Clients are fully clothed during the treatment and gentle touch is used throughout the treatment as well as energy holds where although clients may feel warmth or other sensations the therapist’s hands are not actually making contact with the client.
Clients can experience a variety of different sensations during and after a treatment. Some common sensations can include heat, cold, tingling, floating, sinking. Some clients also experience seeing colours during a treatment which is a beautiful experience for most, but is not something that is experienced by everyone. Reiki treatments are very individual and no two treatments are the same.
Reiki energy will go where it is needed in the body. Therefore, it is possible to have both strong and mild sensations, or a mix of sensations throughout a treatment. Most clients feel relaxed and calm at the end of a treatment.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing that promotes relaxation and reduces stress and anxiety through gentle touch using the hands. Energy can stagnate in the body where there has been physical injury or even emotional pain. In time, these energy imbalances can lead to illness. Reiki aims to help the flow of energy and rebalance energy in a similar way to other complementary therapies such as acupuncture. By improving the flow of energy around the body, Reiki promotes relaxation, can help relieve pain, increases healing, and can reduce other symptoms of illness.

What should I expect when I receive my IHM treatment?
Your treatment includes a health consultation at the start so I can gain some medical history from you. After this you will lie on the heated treatment couch, fully clothed (please note no oils are used during this treatment). This treatment includes working on your back and front so you will be required to change positions. I will use a number of different massage techniques and work on your upper back, shoulders, neck, arms, scalp and face. The treatment will last 45 minutes.
Aftercare after an IHM treatment
Clients should avoid strenuous activities and alcohol for 24 hours after treatment as well as a heavy meal. Drink plenty of water to flush out any toxins. You may experience tiredness, headaches and nausea this is our body’s way of healing itself and is completely normal after a treatment and will pass. Rest as much as possible after your treatment to take full advantage of it.
Aftercare after a Reiki treatment
Reiki can carry on working a few days after treatment. It is important to drink plenty of water to flush out any toxins. Sometimes there can be a physical release after a treatment we call this a ‘healing response’. It is a temporary onset of symptoms that occurs when the body is going through the process of healing itself through the elimination of toxins. This usually passes very quickly.
